KATERINA BROWN

The vocalist Ekaterina Brown is a fabulous singer and professional vocal instructor.

Katerina studied at The University of Cultural and Art in Saint-Petersburg. At 2015 she graduated with Special Honours, Qualification Concert Vocalist, Ensemble Soloist, and Lecturer.

In the last few years Ekaterina has studied vocal training in New York and The San Fransisco Bay Area with the such great teachers including , Gabriel Goodman (Professor of the Berklee Voice Department, Boston USA) with JD Walter (Vocal Instructor of The Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Netherlands) with Raz Kennedy (Vocal Instructor of The California Jazz Conservatory, Berkeley, CA, USA ) and others.

She has a very beautiful voice and around 4 octave range, she is one of the most sought after vocalist in the northern capital of Russia Saint-Petersburg . Famous Jazz Critic Vladimir Feyrtag include Katerina’s name in his popular jazz encyclopaedia "Jazz in Saint-Petersburg. Who is who" in 2014.
During the last 4 years she was the Main soloist and ensemble vocalist for The Jazz Orchestra The Cultural Center of General Directorate of Ministry of Internal Affairs of RUSSIA, St. Petersburg .

​For her gigs she usually use the local Jazz trio featuring Adam Shulman (piano), Gary Brown (bass), Akira Tana (drums) - they are great professional musicians. Just recently Katerina finished her first Jazz CD Mirror, producing by Gary Brown.

Katerina just recently moved to the Bay Area but already has a plenty of experience performing for variety of jazz venues like California Jazz Conservatory, Fenix Club, Warfield Theatre, SF Jazz, Yoshi's and other. In 2016 Katerina became featured vocalists /soloist with the SFJazz Monday Night Big Band as well as one of the finalist winners of Living Jazz Search West 2016.

DIPLOMA

In 2020 Katerina graduated from the CVI ( Complete Vocal Institute in Denmark - Europe's largest institute for pro and semi- pro singers) in Denmark . She was enrolled in a 3 year program which earns her a teaching credential as an authorized CVT teacher. She is the first Russian natives who present this vocal technique to the USA and one of the few in the world.

In 2016 Katerina created a summer program "Step by Step Performing Art Summer Camp" for Russian speaking kids in California, where she teaches speach, voice, and stage presence. Since 2017 Katerina has been developing and teaching masterclasses and workshops in Russia and the USA. She collaborates with other teachers from all around the world.

Katerina has a great teaching experience, she has taught at the Children's Art School in Saint-Petersburg, and as well at a variety of private vocal studios, for adult vocal instruction including master classes.
She teaches a wide variety musical styles and levels of singing, from the beginner and intermediate, to advanced, her focused styles include: Broadway musicals, Jazz, Bossa nova, R&B, Pop, Rock and her traditional Russian folk music.

Katerina's topics for her classes will focus on vocal techniques, breathing, relaxation, ear training, posture, listening, establish keys, choosing repertoire, interpretation and improvisational skills , phrasing, projection, stage etiquette and various other vocal exercises. Students will learn how to warm up before singing, improve their range and strengthen their vocal cords, they will also, work on specific songs in order to perfect and learn the proper skills needed to choose the best suited repertoire that most suits there specific style. Most students will hear and see improvement in just a couple weeks.

Katerina's class offers a solid foundation for all inspiring vocalist of all ages and levels and it gives students a valuable opportunity to improve their knowledge, musical direction, confidence, vocal style and technique in a informative, relaxed, supportive group setting.
